Review: Two Faced Lip Injection Color Bomb Moisture Plumping Lip Tint! in Never Enough Nude

Hey gorgeous globs!

Today I'm going to review the Two Faced Lip Injections Moisture Plumping Lip Tint. As mentioned in my last post reviewing the Maybelline Vivid Lipsticks, unfortunately, I have not been blessed with large beautiful lips. So when I saw some youtube beauty gurus using this lip injection to plump their lips, I was SO excited! I ran out to Sephora immediately and picked one up! I loved the fact that they are cute chubby pencils which helps for controlled easy application.

I picked up the nude color Never Enough Nude as I thought it would be quite versatile. It is a pale pinky nude and I could wear it under any lipstick to get plumper lips. However, when I tried these lip injections, I was in for a surprise...a very painful one. I felt a strong tingling and burning sensation on my lips and the skin around them. I'm not sure if my reaction to this plumping was because I was specifically allergic to an ingredient in this lip tint or if its really this painful for everyone. Most reviewers mentioned a 'slight tingling sensation' and piled the product on without any adverse reaction. However, for me, the sensation was extremely painful and uncomfortable and lasted for a a good few minutes. They have a sweet fruity scent which is neither pleasant nor too overwhelming.

Another important tip regarding this product is to keep it AWAY from your lip line. Although some reviewers mentioned placing product on the lip line specifically to plump up the line, I found that this would irritate the skin around my lips and make it REALLY red. So red that it looked like I had a rash around my entire mouth. So for my next trial, I placed it mostly in the inner parts of my lips and rubbed them together to spread the product a bit closer to my lip line. There was still a very visible red line around the outside of my lips from the irritated skin there, although I did notice my lips were a bit plumper.

However, I don't think the plumping effect was good enough to compensate for the uncomfortable and painful sensation that comes along with wearing this lip product. Additionally, if I ever wore this in public, I would have to pile on concealer all around my lips to prevent the red irritated skin from showing and making me look like I have some rash going on.

I would say, try this product BEFORE you buy it and let it sit for atleast 10-15 minutes to see whether you have an adverse reaction to it or not. But if I based this review on my personal experience, I would say give this product a miss. It is just not worth the money or the pain! Have a look at the pictures below to see if the results are good enough for you (Sorry about the slight blurriness, I am still learning how to use my new camera)

Maybelline Vivids Review - 6 Colours

Hi globs (Glam obsessions readers :P), it has been a while since our last post! But we're back and are making regular posting our (early) new year's resolution!!

Now, let's get down to some makeup business. Despite having small lips, I would definitely consider myself a lips gal. I love collecting (read: hoarding) a million lippies: lipsticks, balms, stains, glosses, lacquers, creams, butters etc. You name it, chances are I probably have atleast 20 of each category.

This is why when I heard the beauty community obsessing over the vivds collection from maybelline in the Color Sensational line, I knew I HAD to try them right away. Granted, these came out slightly later in the Middle East as opposed to US or UK, but it was worth the wait. I picked mine up from LifeStyle and Boots, although you could also find them at any supermarket/pharmacy that carries the Maybelline brand.

In a nutshell:
I love the packaging of these lipsticks in their sleek silver and bright orange casing. They also have a sweet pleasant scent to them which to me smells a bit vanilla-y. They are really opague (full coverage in one/two swipes) and super creamy. This makes them easy to apply and they also have a glossy look/finish. Their creaminess does result in two things: 1) Your lipstick can transfer on your teeth unless you clean out the inside of you lips by inserting your thumb into your mouth and pulling it out (I know this is weird but it works! Trust me!) 2) It is not the most long lasting lipstick. But since these lipsticks are SO highly pigmented, they definitely stain your lips and even after they wear off, your lips will have some color on them which is GREAT! They also feel really moisturizing and comfortable on the lips, and since these are drugstore/highstreet products, they are extremely affordable and a bargain considering their high quality!

Shades tried:
I have bought 6 of the colors.
·         Pink pop – A pale blue based pink. This color is personally not for me as it really does no favour for my yellow complexion. It looks way too light and makes me look slightly dead. Lighter skin tones will be more able to pull this shade off.
·         Fushia flash – Hot pink fushia with blue undertones. This shade is colourful and bold and looks very girly and fun. If you love pink lips and want to make a statement, this is the perfect shade for you!
·         Shocking Coral – A pinky coral. This color is absolutely beautiful and is definitely my favourite.
·         Vibrant Mandarin – A reddy orange. This color is really stunning and more wearable than a true orange lipstick.
·         Vivid Rose – A darker bright pink with more red undertones as opposed to fushia flash. This lipsticks packs a serious punch!
·         Neon red – A bright orange red that’s darker than Vibrant Mandarin.

Since pictures speak a thousand words, have a look at my lip swatches below to see how these lipsticks look on the lips. (Warning: These lipsticks are MUCH brighter in person than they appear on camera. They are definitely statement lipsticks and not suitable for everyday natural looks!)

P.s apologies for the sloppy application!

Owl Nail Art - We Love!

We have always been obsessed with getting manis and pedis. I mean what girl/woman does not want to feel pampered and polished.

Makeup, fashion and nails are all places that you can channel your creativity and put your personality on display for all to see!

Summer is a great time to be bold with your nail choices whether you chose to do a solid bright color, an accent nail or a nail art manicure is completely up to you. The choices are unlimited!

We are totally obsessed with owls and how adorable they look on the nails.

Below are just a few owl designs we've created over the year. We prefer recreating nail art ourselves as it can get pretty pricey if done at salons ranging from AED 5 dirhams/finger (for an extremely simple design) to even AED 50 dirhams/finger.

Don't worry about getting your nail art perfect. People will appreciate the effort and outcome even with the imperfections. And they will believe you when you say you did them yourself!

These designs are really easy to make and are just so much fun. We get alot of compliments whenever we were these looks out and they definitely get us noticed!

Which one is your favorite?

Dior Shimmer Powders (Amber Diamond, Rose Diamond) Review- We are obsessed!

Shimmer powders/highlighters are the perfect way to make yourself appear more youthful by adding a subtle glow to your face. Adding a highlighter shade (Matte or Shimmer) on an area of your face where the light would naturally hit gives dimension to your face and draws attention to areas you want others to focus on.

Highlighters are commonly used in various areas of the face:
  • Under/over the arch of your brows,
  • On top of the cheekbones,
  • On the bridge of the nose,
  • Above the cupid's bow and
  • In the inner corners of the eyes

While matte looks best for eyebrows, lips and nose, we prefer using shimmer eyelighters on our cheekbones and eye inner corners (My personal favorite for the latter is Nylon eyeshadow from Mac which I use every single day as an inner corner highlight). Definitely try out these highlighting techniques on your face and you will instantly notice the huge difference it makes in making your features appear brighter and more prominent!

As for the cheek highlighter, one of our all time favorites are the Dior Skin Shimmer Powders in the shades 001 Rose Diamond and 002 Amber Diamond. Naturally, the packaging is beautiful. These powders come in classic Dior deep blue packaging with silver Dior logo on the top. They also come with a velvet pouch which can be used to store the powders. Their is a mirror on the inside which is quite a reasonable size and very handy to use in case of touch ups.

Rose diamond has a pinky sheen and has strips ranging from shimmering white to different shades of pink (right image).
Amber diamond is more bronzy/goldish and once again the strips range from light to dark bronze (top image).

Each strip can be used separately or you can swirl all or some together to create a different shade. This means that in the same color family (Pink and Bronze tone highlighters) you can get a wide range of shades. You also get 10g of product per compact which for a highlighter (Especially ones so strongly pigmented like these) is enough to last you for years and years!

The powders are easy to blend and amazing quality in terms of pigmentation and feel and the colors suit almost all skin tones! They are also so beautiful to look at and that is ALWAYS a plus :)

Although the product is pricey, the fact that you get alot of product (particularly for a highlighter which does not get used up as fast as other makeup items products) and because of the amazing quality of this product, we give it 10 stars. There is nothing we would change about it and we definitely recommend it to all of our friends!

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipsticks - We Love

Here at Glam Obsessions, we are addicted, yes absolutely addicted, to lippies.

Balms, glosses, lipsticks, stains etc. You name it. We have it.

One of our absolute favourite ways to wear lipstick throughout the work day is matte (As you probably gathered from our previous Bobbi Brown matte lipstick review). We love how natural matte lipsticks look and we also love how polished and put together they make you appear.

Throughout the years, we have tried out our safe share of matte lipsticks. While we love the finish of these, they always have one big problem. They are extremely drying to the lips and accentuate the fine lines on your lips. This is not the most flattering thing for your lips. They are also quite difficult to apply as their non-creamy formula means you have to drag them across you lips and this is uncomfortable and further distresses your lips and emphasises any imperfections.

We were super excited when we came across this Chanel matte lipstick in 33 La Distinguee. Not only is the packaging and color to die for (Gold + Black = Sleek and Polished), the texture of this lipstick means we can have the matte finish we want with a moisturized creamy feeling lipstick. As the name suggests, it has a velvety feel and look and slides on easily for an even application. We found this shade comfortable to wear but it is not particularly long lasting on the lips.

To open the lipstick, you press the bottom of the lipstick and it pushes itself out of the tube. The tip of the lipstick itself has a fine tip for lining the lips similar to the shapes of the Lancome Rouge in Love lipsticks (more on that later) and this makes application extremely easy and cuts out the need for a liner if precision is needed.

As for the color itself, it is very natural and a color that would flatter just about every skin tone out there. It is very work appropriate and subtle but still provides some color to your lips to avoid looking washed out/ghostly.

Out of a 10, we would give this product 9 stars. The only downsides for this lipstick are its price and the fact that it is not long lasting but we are still excited to purchase more lipsticks from this range!

You can find this lipstick at any Chanel counter at Paris Gallery or Arije stores across the UAE.

Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lipstick Collection - We love!

At Glam Obsessions, we have a love/hate relationship with matte lipstick: it's hard to spread and clean, it smudges easily, and by the time you're done applying it, you wish you had just skipped the lipstick in the first place. But at the same time, matte colors add so much drama to your make up because of their richer stain, and their color lasts for hours on your lips - how can we say no to that?

Thanks to Bobbi Brown, we can now benefit from the advantages of matte lipstick without stressing about applying it. The lipsticks in her recently launched Creamy Matte Collection, consisting of 12 pink-beige shades, have a unique rich yet creamy texture: the creaminess allows you to apply the lipstick easily, but thanks to the richness of the shade, you end up enjoying a very luxe and long-lasting stain on your lips. The lipsticks are made with Shea butter, which give the sticks their creamy texture, while moisturizing your lips.
To test out this collection, our team tried the Tawny Pink lipstick, a beautiful light plum (pink-mauve) shade. Our tester tried applying it both with and without lip balm, and in both cases, the stick glid onto her lips, and she cleaned out any smudges easily, thanks to the creamy texture of the lipstick. After application, the color looked rich and slightly glossy, and the lips were full and moist: perfect results! The shade lasted approximately two hours.

If you're a fan of matte lipstick (or any lipstick, for that matter, which you probably are!) we definitely recommend this collection; you won't regret it! We personally can't wait to try another shade very soon (Pink Lily, perhaps?). Rating: 9/10

Each lipstick is priced at AED 140 ($38), and the collection is available at all Bobbi Brown shops across the UAE.

Victoria's Secret Perfect Body Collection

Keeping your body soft, supple, and sweet-smelling is a glamour must, which is why we love trying out new body lotion and body wash launches here at Glam Obsessions. One of Victoria's Secret's latest launches is the Perfect Body Collection. From the collection, we've tried out the Twice as Fresh Silkening Body Wash with Coconut Oil, and the Drink It In Moisturizing Body Lotion with Sweet Almond Oil. Based on our trials, we have given the body wash a rating of 4/10, and the body lotion a rating of 8/10. Keep reading to find out why!

This body wash is slightly different from regular shower gels because you need to shake the bottle to mix the coconut oil (the white part at the top) with the soap, and then you pour the mixture out onto your hand/sponge. The soap smells fresh and sweet, and it moisturizes your skin more than other body soaps since it has actual oil in it, however, it does not foam. Also, you may have to use the soap several times during one shower; since the soap doesn't foam, it  finishes quickly while you're using it (after four uses, my bottle is already half empty). Since we personally prefer foaming bath soaps, and this bottle finishes too quickly, we are disappointed by this product and we do not recommend it if you're currently looking for a body wash. Rating: 4/10

Don't give up on the entire Perfect Body Collection just yet, though! The body lotion is great. It's texture is perfect for normal skin: not too thick, so its easy to spread, and not too watery, so it actually moisturizes. The scent is romantic and sweet, but also fresh and not too heavy. Its moisturizing effects last a day (24 hours), so you need to reapply it every night on the areas you want to moisturize. We love it and would definitely recommend it! However, this product would not be the best option for very dry skin or dry feet (for that, you would need a thicker cream or a body butter - we will be blogging about our favorites in a seperate post) since it is not too thick. This lotion works best on normal skin. Also, the scent does not last too long, and is gone after approximately 1-2 hours of applying the lotion. Rating: 8/10

The entire Perfect Body Collection is now available at Victoria's Secret shops across the UAE. The body lotion and wash are priced at AED 80 ($22) each.
